Our GMSHRM President Robert Garcia, MBA, SPHR, GPHR has accepted a position working with SHRM in an international capacity. He will be responsible for developing the SHRM brand in new markets including Latin and South America, and Europe. His office will be in Miami and he will travel frequently.
While we congratulate Robert, we are sad that he has had to step down as our 2012 President. Please join us with wishing Robert good luck! We will surely see him around.
Robert was the Corporate Director of Human Resources for Baptist Health South Florida, the largest faith-based, not-for-profit health care organization in the region with almost 15,000 employees, and an outstanding reputation for medical and service excellence.
Robert brings a wealth of experience in the fields of human resource management, leadership consulting, and health care administration. He is the faculty director of Executive Education Programs in HR at FIU. In addition to serving as as 2012 President of the Greater Miami Society for Human Resource Management (GMSHRM), Robert has served the association for many years. He has volunteered with GMSHRM and has served the HR community through his various board positions, including facilitating HR Certification training. He is a member of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and has served as trustee.
Robert obtained a Master of Business Administration from FIU and is a distinguished graduate of Nova Southeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Business. He is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources and a Global Professional in Human Resources.
Robert has been interviewed for his perspective on business and career management by The Miami Herald and El Nuevo Herald, CNN, CBS, The Sun Sentinel, the South Florida Business Journal, World City and Proyección Humana. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Robert is a frequent guest speaker, having presented throughout the world, most recently at the University of Miami Careers Symposium and HR Florida Leadership Conference.
