Over the past two years, GMSHRM has helped many of its members in transition to stay connected, relevant and positive during these tough economic and workplace changes. However, there is no better reward than learning first hand from our members how they benefitted from this interaction.
We want to thank Ana Sanchez for sharing her success story with us. Inspiring and real, it provides a roadmap for other in transition during these challenging economic times.
“I was laid-off effective 02/01/2010. The month of February was consumed with my mom recovering from surgery and from my grand-mother’s admission to the hospital and then rehab center.
During the months of March and April, I was contracting with a client’s of Spherion where I made new friends and which was a great opportunity to stay connected while also networking and job searching via internet and job leads by referrals or recruiters.
I spent countless hours applying online, taking phone interviews and going on face-to-face interviews to include a few 2nd interviews and two 3rd interviews. Through this transition period I met so many new people and a couple that I have actually stayed in touch with. This was one of the good sides of being in transition. I also tapped into the Coffee Break Series (CBS) network where I met so many great people in transition and where I was fortunate establish a new friendship. We are in constant communication, we send each other job leads, we share disappointments and encouragement to one another. The CBS those of us in transition support, encouragement, tools and resources to better arm ourselves to face new job hunting challenges in a new economic era.
During my transition, a hand-full of people stayed in touch with me sending job leads or just making sure I was ok. I send a very deep felt thank you to Paula Franco, Cindy Oliver, Cindy Tunon and Fernando Lopez. I am excited about my new opportunity and am committed to further connecting those still in transition with prospective opportunities.”
