From our 2017 GMSHRM President, Josie González, SHRM-SCP/SPHR
Dear GMSHRM Members,
As I begin to compose this letter, I realize how fast these first few weeks as GMSHRM’s president have passed! First of all, I appreciate opportunity given to me to lead this organization. I’d also like to recognize the outstanding job done by my predecessor, Gigi Gerson-Glazer and her great BOD.
Since taking our roles at the beginning of January, our board of directors have been working restlessly on guaranteeing that this is in fact The Year of Your Career. We have been scheduling programs, putting together resources and tools to help you develop and maximize your potential in the human resources arena. I encourage you to review our calendar of events posted on our website, www.gmshrm.org.
I am pleased to see that GMSHRM continues to advance our different roles in the field, as these days we are facing tough challenges and important transitions. We are focusing our efforts on increasing education and networking opportunities for member engagement and leadership in our vibrant organization. Please take advantage of the numerous upcoming opportunities to enhance your knowledge and leadership through our seminars, chapter meetings and educational tools.
I also encourage you to increase your involvement in GMSRHM to share your knowledge, skills, and expertise with our community while you gain personally and professionally. We invite you to reach out to us with comments, and any interest you may have in having a first-hand opportunity to shape the future. Volunteer with GMSHRM today! You may contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our next activity is a networking event on Feb. 28th, themed around the Mardi Gras Festival; we will be gathering at Bulla Gastrobar from 5:30-8:30pm. I hope you all can attend; it will be a pleasure to greet you there.
Until then, cheers!
Josie González, SHRM-SCP/SPHR
