MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
Every area of HR management is included in GMSHRM programs: employment, compensation, benefits, affirmative action, training and development and employee relations. Below are some of the many types of events and information available through GMSHRM.
Monthly Meetings Meetings are held the third Tuesday of every month usually in the form of a Dinner meeting. Speakers at the meetings present on valuable and informative topics and cover a variety of human resource disciplines. A pre-dinner networking hour allows HR professionals to expand their network of contacts and share information relevant to the profession. 2011 Reward Program Part of GMSHRM’s 2011 Rewards Program are the drawings conducted at each Dinner Meeting. There are at a minimum two drawings: 1. For all attendees who pre-registered and attended the dinner meeting 2. For GMSHRM members who pre-registered and attended the dinner meeting. Prizes include books, professional items, gift cards, etc. To further reward our members, we have established a new Point System open to GMSHRM members who attend GMSHRM events. Each point accumulated will result in a chance for a netbook* drawing! For example, if you accumulate 10 points throughout the year, you will have 10 chances to win! The winner will be announced at the GMSHRM 2011 Holiday Party. For more details, Click here.
Networking You can network with your peers before each monthly meeting. We have also created special network events held 3-4 times during the year. Our networking events are focused solely on providing a fun and interactive networking environment. GMSHRM generally donates the proceeds from these events to a local charity or the SHRM foundation.
Professional Development - Workshops and Seminars GMSHRM has established a comprehensive workshop and seminar program. Each year, GMSHRM sponsors educational sessions on a wide range of timely topics. Many topics also provide HRCI recertification credit hours.
Legal Update Seminars Our annual full day legal updates provide cutting edge information on the latest legal developments impacting HR professionals. The program is presented by leading employment lawyers from South Florida and designed to educate in a practical and engaging manner. Bulletins and News Weekly e-news informs GMSHRM members of meetings, events, conferences, legislative updates, and contains informative articles about current issues that affect our field.
Career Opportunities You can advertise your HR openings and find qualified candidates on our CAREER CENTER web page. Also, HR Professionals in transition can take advantage of the advertised positions.
Certification You also have the opportunity to develop your career opportunities and enhance your profession through national Certification as a Professional in Human Resource Management. Certification by the Human Resources Certification Institute is a distinguished honor among human resource professionals, demonstrating mastery of the field and challenging you to stay abreast of new developments. We provide study groups throughout the year to assist you in preparing for the exam.
Diversity / Inclusion Initiatives GMSHRM is committed to supporting initiatives that will reflect the diversity of our community. We develop programs and resources to encourage greater respect for diversity. Global Forum Approximately 5 years ago, we established a forum at which our international HR members could network and attend targeted workshops. The forum meets 4 times each year, with speakers focused on the unique needs of our HR professionals with multinational organizations. Annual Salary Survey The coveted GMSHRM endorsement is given to local salary survey(s) that meet GMSHRM criteria. The survey(s) are provided to GMSHRM members at a discount. GMSHRM's Compensation & Benefits steering committee plays a role in insuring that the scored survey continues to meet members' needs.
Sponsorships Companies who lend their support to our organization can assist us by sponsoring our events and promoting their services.
Volunteer Committees Standard committees - such as Programs, Membership, Professional, Development, and Communications work to achieve the immediate and long-range goals of GMSHRM.
