GMSHRM presents to students at Homestead Job Corps Center
On March 26th, Paula Franco, Workforce Readiness Director and Director of Programs Laura Marks gave an outstanding training workshop to the students and staff at the Homestead Job Corps Center (HJCC). This GMSHRM Workforce Readiness initiative supports the career development training of local schools, colleges and vocational centers by connecting them with experts to help students get ready for their careers.
In recognition of Women’s History Month, Laura & Paula, along with volunteer Nicole Mestres, presented on job coaching and how to succeed in today’s workforce to young women at the Job Corps career technical and academic center. The Job Corps, administered by the U.S. Department of Labor is a no-cost education program for eligible students ages 16 through 24, so that they may improve the quality of their lives through career technical and academic training.
GMSHRM thanks Laura Marks, Employee Relations Officer, Miami Dade College, Paula Franco, Branch Manager, Randstad and Nicole Mestres, Staffing Consultant, Randstad for presenting this program. Their insight and enthusiastic involvement demonstrated that the community really cares about these students' success. Ms. White, a Homestead Job Corps student summed up her impressions of the GMSHRM presentation:
“I learned that as a person seeking employment, you should always have a positive attitude, present a positive image and keep up with the changes in the job market so that you are more employable”.
