SHRM Advocacy Team (A-Team) Member Presents at GMSHRM
To be effective in today's business climate, it is important to understand how government works, how legislation impacts the profession and how we can influence public policy. The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has launched an initiative to create a nationwide member advocacy network of HR Advocates collectively known as the Advocacy Team, or A-Team, to fully engage our members in the public policy process.
The Greater Miami Society for Human Resource Management is proud to host a SHRM Advocacy Team (A-Team) mini-workshop in Miami on October 18, 2011 (from 4:30 - 5:30 PM). The workshop is eligible for HR Certification credit. The session is designed to inform and educate HR professionals to engage in the public policy process as advocates.
David M. Lusk, SHRM's Senior Associate for Member Advocacy, (click for bio) will take you through the basic steps of becoming involved in the public policy process; provide best practices for contacting, meeting with and building lasting relationships with elected officials and their staff; and, touch upon effective ways of communicating the HR professional’s perspective on key workplace issues.
