Gina M. Payne

Gina Payne will join a stellar line-up of speakers, exhibitors and panelists at the inaugural GMSHRM Health and Wellness Conference scheduled for April 12th at Jungle Island.

CBIZ recently announced the appointment of Gina Payne as the company’s national director of wellness.  Based in the firm’s Leawood, Kansas office, Payne focuses her responsibilities on the creation, management and implementation of wellness initiatives, including assistance and oversight on numerous benefit and health management solutions for clients.


Payne, with over 20 years experience in the human resources industry, brings a wealth of expertise in corporate health and wellness benefits programs.  She joined CBIZ from her post as director of total rewards at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.  Previous roles as the head of benefits and compensation in organizations representing the information technology, financial, philanthropic, commercial real estate, professional services, manufacturing, sales and distribution, healthcare system, and food service industries, as well as her experience as a corporate employment/benefits attorney have enabled Payne to bring comprehensive corporate in-house human resources and legal experience in redesigning, implementing and managing health and welfare benefits, retirement, compensation and executive reward programs. 


Payne’s role consists of development and implementation of CBIZ Wellness Solutions, a strategic and comprehensive wellness initiative which enables clients to restrain soaring costs and increase the productivity and wellbeing of their employees.  Payne’s focus is on data-driven assessment and analysis, customized value-based benefit plan design and intervention programs, effective employee engagement, attractive incentive/reward agendas, and meaningful measurable outcomes.  “Our industry has spent the past 15 years building knowledge and awareness for these programs,” offers Payne.  “It is now that I as a professional and we as an industry must convert awareness into a real return on investment for today’s employer.  The current workforce, including management, wins when the employee and the root cause for his/her wellbeing are managed effectively.”


Payne received her Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of San Diego and a Juris Doctorate degree from University of San Diego School of Law.  Her professional affiliations include, but are not limited to, Pacific Northwest Alliance for Health Improvement, Institute for Value Based Benefits, Institute for Health and Productivity Management, Employee Benefits Institute, International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, Kansas City Compensation and Benefits Association, Pacific Northwest Compensation and Benefits Association, Society for Human Resources Management, World at Work, Professional in Human Resources Association, etc.  She has participated in the Institute of International and Comparative Law and has served as an Adjunct Professor of business law for a Missouri university.
