GMSHRM Hosted Chinese HR Delegation
In November 2010, a HR Chinese delegation traveled to the United States to learn about human resources best practices and the challenges faced by human resources professionals in South Florida.
On November 1, 2010 the Greater Miami SHRM Chapter hosted a delegation of 26 representatives from China. The delegation traveled to the United States to learn about human resources best practices and understand the challenges human resources professionals face when attracting, engaging and retaining senior executives in South Florida.
Of the 26 delegates, five represented the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of China (SASAC). SASAC is responsible for managing China's state-owned enterprises, including appointing top executives and approving mergers or sales of stock or assets, as well as drafting laws related to state-owned enterprises. The remaining 21 delegates were Senior Human Resources executives from large state-owned corporations in China.
The GMSHRM Global Forum Committee, chaired by Leticia Borges, led the coordination of this important event. Several members of the 2010 GMSHRM Board of Directors including President-Elect Cindy Lau-Evans, Treasurer Kathie Alexander, VP Membership Yeimilyn Lorenzo, Director of Community Relations David Nunes, Director of Professional Development, Marylou Ponzi, and Director of Sponsorships, Rossana Tabares, attended the event in representation of South Florida's human resources community.
The event was a great success and the first step in developing new channels where human resources practitioners around the world can exchange best practices and leverage innovative ideas.
