Wage Theft Ordinance - An Overview

It may have taken you by surprise, but, by now, you’re undoubtedly aware of the new Wage Theft ordinance that governs Miami-Dade employers. Andy Rodman, our Legislative Affairs Director, will provide a brief overview at the March 16 meeting.

It may have taken you by surprise, but, by now, you’re undoubtedly aware of the new “Wage Theft” ordinance that governs Miami-Dade employers.  The ordinance has potentially significant ramifications for all Miami-Dade employers, including requests for administrative “mini-trials” by aggrieved employees, and the imposition of triple damages for wage violations.  Also, employers with anything other than a weekly payroll cycle may run afoul of the requirement that wages get paid within 14 calendar days of work being performed.  Employers may only avoid this 14-day requirement by securing a written agreement from employees.

Andy Rodman, our Legislative Affairs Director, will provide a brief overview of the “Wage Theft” ordinance at our dinner meeting on March 16.  Register today
