Models and Tools for Cross Cultural Competence
Steve King, Vice President of Baxter Healthcare will lead this dynamic presentation which will focus on the skills and perspectives required of the HR professional in order to better manage and consult on the issues of a global workforce. The goal of the session will be to provide those attending with some mental models and practical tools to best serve their business partners/clients. Content expected to be covered will include work on global dimensions of culture, the role of context in achieving high performance, and diagnostics for improving cross cultural interactions.

About the Presenter: This unique session will be led by Steve King, Vice President of Talent Management at Baxter Healthcare, a 13 billion dollar business with nearly 50,000 employees worldwide. In his role, based out of Deerfield, Illinois, Steve is responsible for such HR work as leadership development, succession management, performance management, talent acquisition, and diversity/inclusion.
Prior to joining Baxter, Steve was Executive Vice President of Human Resources at Hewitt Associates, responsible for Hewitt's global HR function. Steve also spent time at Hewitt as their Chief Learning Officer. Before his ten years with Hewitt, Steve held various learning and development roles with the Bank of Montreal, Caremark, Harris Bank, and the Wisconsin Vocational/Technical College System. Steve is also an adjunct professor at the University of Wisconsin, focusing his teaching time on various leadership and executive education topics. Outside of work Steve serves on the Board of the Chicago Sinfonietti [the nation's most diverse orchestra] and consults in public school districts on various strategic initiatives. Steve has served 10 years on his local school board.
