A Source of Funds for College Students
Latest tips from the GMSHRM Diversity Committee blog - a source of funds for college students and those going back to school
Have you heard of this fund? I hadn’t until another H R professional told me about it this year. As many of its supporters would tell you, it is perhaps one of the biggest well-known secrets! The Hispanic Scholarship Fund is eager to tell us all that, since 1975, it has provided over $276 million dollars to 91,004 undergraduate and graduate Hispanic students in the United States, Guam, U.S.V.I. and Puerto Rico; in Florida, that has meant $21million dollars to just over 6,000 undergrad and graduate students. Recently, the HSF announced that it had awarded for 2009 over $1.2 million dollars in scholarships to 203 South Florida Hispanic students pursuing undergraduate or graduate studies. With people scrambling for ways to pay for a college education, this could be an answer! For more information, check out http://www.hsf.net .
