GMSHRM in partnership with Miami-Dade Business Leadership Network (MDBLN) and the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce (GMCC) will host a free workshop on November 6th from 8:00 to 10:15 AM at the GMCC’s Conference Center, 1601 Biscayne Boulevard, Ballroom Level, Miami, FL 33132-1260.

The workshop is titled Mental Health Issues in the Workplace…Coping When Life Happens and other related issues.  Registration will begin at 8 AM with the actual program beginning at 8:15 AM and ending at 10:15 AM.  A continental breakfast will be provided. 

The event will feature three speakers and 2 employers who will address the issue of mental health in the workplace:

a.      An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) representative from the Miami area to discuss general mental health statistics and how the workforce/productivity is affected.  The EAP person will also talk about ways to successfully address this issue. 

b.      A representative from the Miami area Veterans’ community who assists veterans with disabilities to be reintegrated into the local workforce. 

c.       A representative of the Miami area Domestic Abuse community to discuss domestic abuse, how it impacts the workforce and what employers can do to keep everyone safe. 

d.      Two Miami area employers who have experienced mental health issues in their workplaces, were successful in ameliorating the employees’ issues and what actions they took. 

The workshop is already certified for 2 HR Certification Institute credits.
