The HR Florida Council's chapter excellence awards honor the work of local Florida chapters, their achievements and execution of one or more leadership core areas: diversity, workforce readiness, college relations, membership, certification, global affairs and legislative affairs. They also demonstrate achievement, success, inspiration and a goal driven ambition. GMSHRM was one of three chapters recognized for their diligent work in various core areas and each received an honorarium of $1,000.
GMSHRM's diversity program worked extensively with The Miami-Dade Age Friendly Initiative which addresses the needs, interests and assets of the growing number of older Americans in Miami-Dade County -n this regard, Grantmakers in Aging (GIA), a national association of funders, in partnership with the Pfizer Foundation, launched Community Ada: Improving America for All Ages and funded five grants nationwide to local groups so that they could accelerate those communities’ efforts to become “age-friendly.” The program targeted four areas for improvement: Planning Policies for Miami-Dade County, creating more age-friendly, county-wide development and action,(Parks) creating more age-friendly older adult focused parks and recreation system, (Neighborhoods) where the older adult residents will be more able to age in place and (Employment) increasing older adult employment.
“We are very pleased to be recognized for the work we are doing in Miami Dade county,” said Jenna Rinehart Rassif, 2013 chapter president, Greater Miami SHRM. “We had the opportunity to partner with many organizations and together we put a lot of work into this initiative that focused on older American workers.”
Congratulations to all!
